You don’t have to do this alone

Maybe performance anxiety is holding you back. Maybe there’s an inner voice constantly second-guessing your every move, or you’re pushing yourself so hard to succeed that it’s starting to feel like too much. Or maybe you’re the one everyone else turns to – but you’re not sure who’s there for you.

Whatever you're carrying, something isn’t working the way it used to. You know it’s time for a change, but you’re not sure where to start. Together, we can uncover the patterns that are keeping you stuck and begin to chart a new path forward.

You’ve already come this far – let’s take the next step together.

I’m Thomas

I’m a licensed Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie, a Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist, and an international opera singer. What can I say – I’ve got a lot of parts!

In 2011, I moved to Germany from my native United States to continue my career as a singer. (You can read about my artistic work here.) After many years of living in Germany and performing across Europe, I went back to school – I wanted to use what I had learned in my singing career to provide mental health support for other artists and English-speaking expats. In 2021, after earning my license in Germany and training in IFS Therapy, I opened my therapy practice in Berlin.

I work with clients from a broad range of backgrounds and careers, from tech industry professionals to government workers, medical professionals, therapists, and beyond. I especially love working with artists – opera singers, instrumentalists, actors, dancers, directors, and more – at both the pre-professional and professional levels. I dedicate myself to meeting my clients exactly where they are, and helping them grow in the way that feels exactly right for them.

Let’s work together

I work exclusively with the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, a transformative approach to therapy developed by Dr. Richard C. Schwartz. IFS sees each of us as made up of different internal "parts" – some parts work to protect us, some hold heavy burdens and pain, but all of them are good. (In fact, one of Dr. Schwartz’s latest books is called No Bad Parts.)

At the center of all of those parts, we each also have a core “Self” – the “real You” that’s always present, no matter what comes your way. Your Self is capable of leading you through life with clarity, empathy, and strength. In our work together, we’ll connect with your Self to get to know your parts, understand the hopes and fears that are keeping them stuck, and help bring them the healing that only your Self can provide.

By listening to your parts with compassion and curiosity, we can help you find more harmony within – allowing you to show up as the best version of yourself, every day.

Here’s how we can do it

IFS Therapy is a powerful approach to uncovering and healing the deeper wounds and patterns that shape your life. By connecting with your compassionate core Self, we’ll work to understand and transform the inner struggles that hold you back. This process fosters lasting change, helping you approach life with greater clarity, freedom, and self-compassion.

IFS Coaching is a solution-focused approach that uses the IFS model to help you achieve personal and professional goals. Whether you’re working through obstacles or striving for growth, coaching helps you gain clarity, transform limiting beliefs, and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself. This process empowers you to move forward with confidence and purpose.

Artist Coaching brings the power of IFS to the unique challenges faced by creative professionals. Whether you're struggling with performance anxiety, perfectionism, or self-doubt, artist coaching helps you reconnect with your passion and creativity. Together, we’ll listen to and befriend your inner critics so we can unlock your full artistic potential in a sustainable, balanced way.

  • Since working with Thomas I have felt freer and more myself, leaving me open and able to operate with greater confidence.

  • It was a great pleasure to have Thomas Florio with us for three days at the Royal Danish Opera Academy. The students all shared such positive feedback about the content and the way that it was presented, both in the workshop and in the individual sessions. Perhaps most importantly: the singers felt understood and heard both as people AND as singers. In this sense, it was a special benefit that Thomas is a trained therapist who is also a trained singer.
